01 Background
I am forty years in and I still take classes
I started cutting hair in Raleigh in 1986 and I never left. I have worked in a few rooms around this city since, and these days I own my own shop.
I still take classes.
02 Work
Why curly work is the work I like
I got into curly hair through the DevaCurl program. A friend told me about it, and I flew up to New York to train at Devachan Salon.
Most people who come to me for curly hair have had it cut wet, like straight hair. Cut dry, one curl at a time, it holds its shape, and people can see the difference in the chair.
How a first appointment works
We talk before I touch anything. What you like, what has not worked, and what you actually do with your hair on a normal morning. That last one decides the cut.
Curly hair gets cleansed, conditioned and set, then cut dry, one curl at a time. Color gets a formula built for your hair. Either way I explain what I am doing as I go, so you can do it at home.
