Accessibility

What this site aims for
This site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, level AA.
The conformance statement is not written yet, on purpose. It gets filled in from the manual audit at launch and it will say what the audit actually found, including anything that failed and the date it will be fixed by. A statement claiming a conformance level nobody has tested is a false statement about a protected group’s access, and it is worse than having no statement at all.
What has been checked so far, and by machine rather than by a person: on 30 August 2026 every page was tested for text contrast against the AA thresholds at two screen widths, with zero failures, and for heading order, landmarks, image alt text and declared image dimensions. Machine checks catch the measurable part. The parts that need a person, a screen reader run and a keyboard-only run, happen before launch and their results go here.
Getting into the shop
Blocked, and this one matters more than the rest of the page. Two sources in our own records disagree about how a person gets from the parking lot to the chair. Nothing publishes here until somebody has walked the route and written down what is actually there: steps or no steps, door widths, whether the restroom is accessible and in what specific way, accessible parking, and whether the shampoo bowl can be used from a wheelchair.
Someone who uses a wheelchair, reads a wrong line here, and drives across Raleigh for nothing has been harmed by this page. It will describe what a person will actually encounter, not a list of badges.
What this site does not use
This site does not use an accessibility overlay, widget or plugin that claims to make a site compliant automatically. They do not work, they interfere with the screen readers and other tools people already have set up, and the claims made for them have drawn regulatory action.
Accessibility here is in the markup, the contrast, the keyboard order and the code. There is no toolbar.
