Because wet hair stretches and hides its pattern.

Water stretches a curl. Four inches of wet hair can sit two inches shorter once it dries, and every curl on your head does it a little differently. So a cut that looks even while it is wet can dry uneven, and you find that out at home.

Cutting dry means I see the curl the way you wear it. I work with my fingers, so each curl stays in the group it grew in. It takes longer, and it is the reason the cut still looks right at week six.

One more thing that helps: come in with your hair the way it looks on a normal day. Not tied back, and no hat. I want to see how you wear it before I wash it.
