Yes, and more of it than you would guess. About forty percent of my clients are men, and a lot of them have curly hair that nobody has ever cut properly.
Here is what usually happens to a curly-haired man: he goes to a barber, because that is what men do. Barbers cut short and clean, which works on straight hair. But curl needs weight left in specific places, and clippers and thinning shears take it out of exactly the wrong ones. He walks out neat and walks around for three weeks with hair that will not behave, and he thinks that is just his hair.
It is not his hair. It is the cut.
Curly men’s hair works the same way as curly women’s hair in my chair: cleansed, conditioned and set, then cut dry, one curl at a time, so I can see what each curl does before I take anything off. The appointment and the price are the same as any curly appointment, and they are on the curly hair page.
Finding a good stylist for curly hair is tough, especially after moving to a new city. He took the time to understand what I wanted, explained how he planned to shape the cut, and delivered results that were easily some of the best I’ve ever had.
